June’s Southern California Domaining Meetup: It Was All A Dream

On Saturday, the Southern California Domaining Group had its sixth meetup.  The group met at Urth Cafe in Downtown, Los Angeles.  Urth Cafe provided us with a conference room which was perfect for our group.  In addition to this they waived the $150 conference room fee and really took care of us.  I want to thank Urth Cafe for doing such a wonderful job and providing us the space for free.

The Art Of Balancing A Full Time Job And Domaining

Today marks the completion of one month at my new job and it already feels like an eternity.  I have a new found respect for those of you who have mastered the art of balancing a full time job along with your domaining projects.  It’s not easy!  These days it is important for me to get right to the point with people.  I’ve noticed that the less time I spend registering new domain names the better my portfolio gets.

A Great Day To Write About A Prank, Attila This Is For You

Do you remember the entry I wrote asking for domainers to spam me?  Well one domainer took it to an entirely new level.  Some of you may know Attila, he occasionally comments on this blog and is probably one of the funniest people that I never had the chance of meeting.  A week or so after I posted the SPAM ME entry I received a package in the mail addressed to DNPIMPING.COM!

TownHomeInsurance.net Currently On The Auction Block At Sedo

Two days ago I received an offer via Sedo for the domain name TownHomeInsurance.net, since I am a bit rusty when it comes to flipping domain names I contacted one of my domainer friends who tends to specialize in flipping and he promptly said send it to auction.  I’m glad he said this, because I completely overlooked this option.  Let me restate that!  I completely forgot about this feature.

Monday’s Morning Read: Delivering Happiness

Are you ready for Monday’s Morning Read?  This morning’s read isn’t actually an article and wasn’t an item that I read this morning.  Confused?  Don’t be, just know that this book showed up randomly to my door step.  I have to commend Tony Hsieh, for knowing that I wanted a copy of his book.

Lucky me, since I took Tony up on the offer for the 2009 Zappos Culture book at DOMAINfest my name happened to be on the list to receive a free copy of his new book entitled, “Delivering Happiness:  A Path To Profits, Passion, And Purpose.”  This book couldn’t of come at a better time!  I am on the hunt to read as many great biographies as humanly possible and since I received this book a couple of weeks ago I’ve already read 158 pages!

Yahoo! Sent me a blank check…

Well not exactly, but I have to admit this is probably the next worst thing.  Notice how I didn’t say best!  The Yahoo! check which arrived in the mail a few days ago is valid for 180 days.  This is great to know, now the only problem with this check is the fact that THE BANK OF NEWYORK MELLON based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania felt it was important to send me a check for the total amount of $0.

Domain Spotlight Tuesdays: E3Expo.com

It’s an exciting time for those of us that live in Los Angeles, California.  Forget about the Hollywood scene and lets zone in on Downtown.  If you haven’t heard, Los Angeles is home to the video gaming industries largest expo called the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).  The expo started today and runs until the 17th.

In addition to the expo, the Lakers won game 6 and fans all over Los Angeles are eagerly awaiting to see them win another championship this Thursday, June 17th 5:30pm PST at the Staples Center.  Can you imagine what it feels like to be here right now?  I can’t even describe the energy which is currently running through this city.

What Would You Do? Potential Buyer Doesn’t Make An Offer

On June 7th I received an email from a potential domain buyer.  It was short, brief and too the point.  Right from the beginning I could tell that this person was serious in purchasing GroupBuyingScript.com a domain name that I registered after witnessing the group buying craze.  As with anything, if there is money in it people will try to clone it.

3DGames Are On The Horizon, Will The Owners Of 3DGame.com And 3DGames.com Develop Or Sell?

Are 3D games the next big trend?  Sony not only believes this, they are moving forward with a PS3 3D game launch on Friday in the UK.  What has sparked this revolution?  You know the answer to that and probably had the pleasure of watching it.  We don’t mention the Avatar name around here, so let this be the only time that it is stated.  Media outlets have driven the movie name into oblivion and have over analyzed every segment of the block buster.
